Awake My Soul (Psalm 57)While thinking of something to write this music about, I couldn’t help but think of the mass destruction and devastation that was going on around the world at the time. Tragic events were occurring; such as the deadly shooting in Las Vegas, the heartbreaking loss of life and property caused by Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, and strong earthquakes in Mexico in the year 2017. Psalm 57 stood out to me as words of hope and peace in our one and only true salvation, Jesus Christ.
This is such a reassuring text to read in times of trouble and distress. We know that God has saved us through His son, Jesus Christ. He provides such comfort and peace in times of need. For that, we magnify and glorify the Lord for His wonderful deeds and for the gift He has given us what we simply don’t deserve; and that gift is eternal life.
